Rocket Division Software announces immediate availability of long-waited StarBurn SDK version 10.5 "Tomahawk". The very imported upgrade comes with serious improvements and fixes. Among these are:


  • New Unicode-based UDF engine represented (this time with session import code feature).
  • Free/used space detection for UDF volumes has been fixed.
  • Audio burning engine updated to accept Unicode names for audio tracks.
  • BD-R burning now can do true disc finalization (we've kept disc "opened" always in the early versions of StarBurn SDK).
  • Volume label names now can accept non-English names.
  • TOC sequence processing code changed. Now we don't report link blocks as parts of the track
    for DVD and Blu-Ray media.
  • BD-RE and DVD+RW erase code changed. Now we do mark out UDF header.
  • DVD+R DL layer break code fixed.
  • Read modes probing does not probe DVD and Blu-Ray for raw modes they don't support at all.
  • PIONEER 116 and 216 (PATA and SATA) workaround added.
  • Added workaround for TOC reading if broken AnyDVD software is active.
  • Burner/grabber create/destroy tracker added. Easier to isolate "orphan" burners.
  • Fixed bug in CSS processing code for DVDs. Now all title keys are stored into MDS.
  • CSS title keys lookup code changed. Much better key processing resulted.

StarBurn SDK 10 released.

Rocket Division Software announces immediate availability of its StarBurn SDK version 10. The very imported upgrade comes with serious improvements and additions to the award winning SDK and introduces new and improved functionality for developers. Among these additions and improvements are:


  • New Unicode-based UDF mastering engine represented.
  • All of the core SDK samples are completely re-worked, updated and new VC2003, VC2005 and VC2008 project files have been created. Now wizard-based samples are in sync with our commercial StarBurn application wizards.
  • Finally StarBurn comes with completely new StarBurnX OCX wrapper for easy use of it's features. C#, VB.NET & VB6 and C++ samples are included. Written from the scratch.
  • New SPTD re-distributable executables to provide exclusive access to the burner has been included into SDK. Also new CreatExEx(...) API call to serve SPTD transport is fully documented.
  • Audio compression engine has been re-worked. Now we do encoding not only to WMA but also to MP3 and OGG Vorbis audio formats (decoding was available before). Also audio recording can accept Unicode file names.
  • Track-At-Once recording for audio now accept variable pause length between tracks (just like DAO).
  • Now StarBurn can burn with 32KB and 64KB packets to DVD and Blu-Ray media. Better compatibility.
  • Boot image handling code changed. Now we patch CRC checksums so Linux bootable media works.
  • WPP tracing added (optional).
  • Burning using pipe as a source was made much easier. Pipe-related Win32 calls re-wrapped inside StarBurn for faster & safer use.
  • IFO/BUP patching fixed. Better DVD-Video compatibility.
  • Numerous bugfixes & hardware workarounds added.

StarBurn COM & .NET Wrapper released

Ladies and Gentlemen,

We're happy to announce we've released StarBurnX, COM & .NET wrapper over StarBurn Core SDK. Now COM & .NET application design should be trivial. StarBurnX comes with a set of samples for C++, C#, VB.NET and VB6.

Future versions of the StarBurn SDK will have StarBurnX as part of the standard installation, StarBurn.OCX will be dropped and kept as a stand-alone installation for compatibility reasons. For now StarBurnX has a separate installation. You can download it directly here:

Rocket Division Software announces free versions of StarWind iSCSI Target and StarPort iSCSI Initiator.

StarWind, which runs on Microsoft Windows, allows any server or workstation (Windows, Linux, UNIX, etc) to access centralized storage, providing a cost-effective and easy-to-customize method for implementing and gaining all the benefits of a storage area network (SAN).

The free version of StarWind provides up to 2TB of storage capacity and allows only single client host to be connected. Customers requiring enhanced features such as clustering, snapshots, replication and additional storage capacity can choose between the Standard edition for $395 and the Professional edition for $995. StarBurn SDK version 7.2.20 released.

StarBurn SDK Version 7.2.20 has been released. List of fixes/updates since the prior build (7.1.10) includes:


  • Now StarBurn SDK comes with SPTD transport. It is set of filter drivers allowing to bypass any broken SCSI filter. Burning should be ROCK solid from now. Take a look at FindDeviceExEx sample (GUI samples would be updated a bit later).
  • GUI samples fixed and re-worked. Lots of bugs fixes since previous very first new UI samples release.
  • JStarBurn.dll and whole Java wrapper for StarBurn SDK is shipped with the core SDK. Burning from Java never has been so easy!

StarWind 3.2.2 released.

Rocket Division Software has released version 3.2.2 of StarWind iSCSI Target for Microsoft Windows 2000/XP/2003/Vista/Longhorn (32-bit and 64-bit versions).

This version includes the following changes:

  • New DiskBridge plug-in implemented. Now whole hard disk can be represented as SCSI-3 compatible iSCSI target volume. Now broken RAID and SCSI controllers should always work with VMware ESX, MSCS and other virtual machines.
  • Huge SAN volume creation optimized. From now multi-terrabyte SAN volumes would be created much faster compared to the previous versions.
  • Buffer alignment changed to workaround RAID and SCSI controllers reporting byte alignment when they really need word or double word. No more occasional write errors on very rare controller models.
  • Fixed several minor problems found in 3.2.1
  • On-line help updated to describe added features.
